Football = violence, I used to be indifferent to football, now I actually hate it because of all the violence associated with it.

Sax = music.... unless you meant "sex" Razz

Apart from Finnish having difficult grammar, theyalsohaveverylongwords Shocked

Indeed! My cousin was telling me about this small Finnish pastry thing... called karjalanpiirakka. Try saying that with your mouth full! Razz

Also, I find Dutch easy because the grammar seems to be much less confusing. I can make up a simple random Dutch sentence with my very limited knowledge of the language and most of the time get it right Shocked

Well i`ve had two weeks of Consigned to Oblivion, thats going to take a while to get into.
But Devine Conspiracy, I already love it. Never Enough, oh my god thats awesome,
If I`m not mistaken, I believe Epica to be like Led Zep, in that they don`t make singles,
they just do quality albums, and then try to find the best of a great bunch of songs,
to put out as a single.
When you find an album you fall straight into, this "usually" means you fall out of them just as quick, BUT, when it slowly creeps up on you and then one day you think, wow thats good, it usually stays with you for a very very long time Razz
This group specialises in this sort of music. Wink

It's the other way around for me. I loved Consign to Oblivion straight away, and Divine Conspiracy took a few weeks to get into. But when it did creep up on me i played it constantly!

Simone's back for the Dutch tour, Amanda was just a temporary replacement for the US tour with Symphony X. I love Amanda though, and I wish I got to see her with Epica!

Anyway Leighton, have a great time and say hi to Ben and Ingrid for me! Smile

Thanks everyone! I fully intend to have a good weekend. Yeah, Simone is back for the Dutch tour and for the classical conspiracy show in Hungary i assume. Should be a good show in Oss on Saturday, as it's the hometown of a couple of the band members too.

I'll say hi to Ingrid for you Emily, and Ben when i find out who he is! Wink

Full report coming up... what i'll remember of the trip anyway! Wink

Well, it was a hell of a gig in Holland last sunday! One of the best i've been to. The support band, A NEW DAWN pretty much blew me away too. Dutch female-fronted metal band with a difference... they have 3 female vocalists! That's 2 clean vocalists and 1 grunter, Angela Gossow Stylee! Check them out...

http://www.myspace.com/anewdawnband

As for EPICA... Incredible!! They played alot of songs from the last album, plus all the main ones from the previous albums... Sensorium, Quietus, Consign to Oblivion, etc... The show was still going on as we were aproaching midnight so i couldn't stay until the end as i had a train to catch! Sad

I had quite alot to drink as usual, but i remember all of it! Watching one of my favourite bands in a small venue in Europe is definitely something i'll be doing again.

Big bands in little venues are top nights out. You remember them far longer and take in more memories, than the Wembley Arenas of this world. Up close and personal.
Glad you enjoyed your weekend. I won`t mention the Football Embarassed

Agree with you Paul! I suppose that's one reason us metalheads are more addicted to music than trend followers are. We actually get up close and even meet our favourite bands in small venues, while fans of, for example, the Foo Fighters can only admire from afar and only dream of meeting Dave Grohl.

As for the footy... it's ok! We kept the score down to only 2-0, and those Dutch fans are incredible! Smile

So, here's something to argue about: best Epica ballad?

As you can see in my signature, I don't think Solitary Ground is the best Razz My friend actually said it, but I agree with him totally! Laughing

Linger is my absolute favourite Smile I hope I get to hear it live someday.
